MUSD Selected for U.S. Dept. of Energy Conservation Program!
Marana Unified School District has been chosen as one of the sixty local educational agencies (LEAs) to participate in the 2024-2025 Energy Champions Leading the Advancement of Sustainable Schools (Energy CLASS) program by the U.S. Department of Energy and the Efficient and Healthy Schools Program!
Energy CLASS is designed to help some of the nation’s highest-need K–12 public schools with critical clean energy and health improvements by establishing, training, and supporting energy managers—or champions—in their districts. By leveraging resources offered through Energy CLASS, LEAs can build institutional knowledge around how to identify long-term, energy efficient opportunities while building a network of support for projects that advance school sustainability goals.
MUSD’s application was one of the 60 selected because it demonstrated a dedication to creating impactful or scalable energy plans and sustainability goals that align with the goals of DOE and that can be successfully supported through the Energy CLASS program.
Beginning in November, energy champions from MUSD will receive six months of resources, training and one-on-one expert advice tailored to their individual sustainability goals. Champions will explore topic areas including strategic energy management, project development and funding pathways while also collaborating with peers in the Energy CLASS network to share resources and knowledge.
